FROM THE INBOX:

Just checking our back office and any of YOU who listen to us always hear us talk about building a Team.

This starts with YOU enrolling an Agent and helping them enroll their first Agent and so on.

Barb and I practice what we preach. We enrolled a new Agent back in Jan, 2016 and helped them do same.  In March, 2016, this team helped a new Agent (on our FIFTH level) get started.

Yesterday, this new Agent got his FIRST MERCHANT showing in back office... who bought a BUNCH of special units for their existing POS System.

This was a six month project involving First Data, Oracle and NxGen. Our thanks to Peter and Casey for their incredible assistance!

Agents Ryan, Cal, Karle, James, Sean and we are sooo grateful and we will all count our blessings over being able to share in the SEVEN FIGURE PER MONTH  Processing of this casino!!

Today is the perfect day to build your team.

Mike

Digital World Discovery Calls

TODAY'S FOCUS:  Setting up DW Funeral Home Discovery Calls for auditing.  Here are some 'why's":

Why Funeral Homes?

An often overlooked industry for federal tax incentives is Funeral Homes. In this industry, the business has often remained “in the family” for many years, even generations. As a result, federal tax incentive eligibility has rarely been investigated.

Fortunately, for Funeral Home owners, there is likely a considerable benefit waiting for them. Since most Funeral Homes have been purchased or constructed for over $1,000,000 and the business is generally paying taxes at a high bracket, they are ideal candidates for the Cost Segregation tax benefit. Furthermore, we have seen many Funeral Homes across the nation undergoing significant renovations, most of which qualify for the benefit as well.
If you own a Funeral Home and have yet to complete an Engineering-based Cost Segregation study, now is the time to investigate this benefit -- AT NO COST TO YOU. Your bottom line will thank you!

Specialized Tax Incentives for the Funeral Home Industry

The IRS Is Trying To Help Funeral Homes Pay Them Less! (Don’t believe it? – read on)
This statement is directly from www.irs.gov, “Buildings and structural components have substantially longer depreciable lives than personal property. Therefore, it is desirable for taxpayers to maximize personal property costs in order to accelerate depreciation deductions and, hence, reduce tax liability.”
This largely overlooked tax strategy often reaps over $100,000 in tax benefits for a typical funeral home.
This strategy dates back to 1959 when the U.S. Tax Court allowed building owners to pursue component-based depreciation. In 2004 the IRS established a ‘Cost Segregation Audit Techniques Guide’; the Guide provides clear direction regarding how to establish the cost basis for non-structural building components and which depreciation time-lines to use for electrical wiring, plumbing, partitions, carpeting, finishes, parking lots, landscaping (and other qualifying components).
Think of it this way; why depreciate, say, carpeting in a 39-year time-line as if it were a structural steel beam? The IRS allows building owners to depreciate many such items in a more appropriate 5-year time-line. In fact, roughly 20% of your Funeral Home could likely be moved from 39-year to 5-year time-lines!
And just when you think you’ve died and gone to heaven (a little Funeral Home industry humor), it gets better! The IRS allows you to move such depreciation that you didn’t claim in years past, so-called ‘catch-up depreciation’, into your current tax year without having to do an amendment. Your CPA can move this ‘catch-up’ figure to your current tax year through a simple 481 change in accounting method.

The IRS recommends that building owners wishing to take advantage of this logical and well-established tax strategy conduct an Engineering Based Cost Segregation Study which documents:
  1. A building’s qualifying non-structural components and
  2. The depreciable cost basis for each of those components
The Study also places each component in the appropriate time-line per the IRS Guide.

What?  Your friend owns a restaurant, not a funeral home?  A Discovery Call can help them, too!

Two of the Biggest Tax Breaks for the Restaurant Industry

Two of the biggest tax provisions that affect the restaurant industry are the 15-Year Restaurant Depreciation and the Worker Opportunity Tax Credit.

15-year Depreciation
Simply put this provision allows a taxpayer to allocate the costs of an asset over the period in which they are used.  The 15-year Depreciation provision allows leasehold improvements, restaurant improvements and new restaurant construction, and retail improvements to be depreciated over 15 years rather than the standard 39-year recovery period that would normally apply to nonresidential real property.
Due to the nature of the industry restaurant buildings experience daily wear and tear that many industries do not.  As a result of this increased wear and tear, most restaurants remodel or update their buildings every six to eight years.  Thus, the 15 year provision more accurately fits the recovery timeframe.
Benefits of the 15-year Depreciation provision:
  • Reduces cost of capital expenditures
  • Increases cash flow
  • Allows hiring more employees
  • Allows capital expenditures to expand business
  • Reinvestment in construction & renovations positively affects the economy
Worker Opportunity Tax Credit
This tax credit is made available to employers who hire individuals from several targeted groups facing significant barriers to employment.
Examples of WOTC-target groups:
  • Veterans receiving food stamps or are unemployed suffering a service related disability
  • Former Felons
  • Disconnected Youth
  • Family Members receiving TANF
Currently the restaurant industry employees over 13 million people nationwide.  Many of these individuals were hired specifically due to the WOTC act being in place.   The WOTC provision allows workers who may not have been able to, move into self-sufficiency by earning a steady income and becoming contributing taxpayers.
Hiring from the group of qualified job seekers via the WOTC provision can mean direct federal tax savings to your business ranging from $1,200 to $9,000 per qualifying employee.  Restaurants tend to experience better than average qualification rates in state and federal hiring credit programs.  Hundreds of thousands of dollars are provided via this provision annually.

13 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

THIRTEEN THINGS AN AGENT NEEDS TO KNOW ABOUT DWP:

13.  The long-term residual money is built by getting the short-term fast start money.

12.  Other companies create residual for their reps by charging their customers MORE for their product or service:  DWP creates residual for its agents by charging our customers LESS for our services.

11.  In other words, with DWP, stuff is either FREE or LESS.

10.  Ask another Agent for help:  you don't have to do this alone.  You can, but you don't have to.  Reach out to Mike or Barb.

9.  Your interface does not bite:  don't be afraid of it.  Watch the training videos BEFORE YOU DO anything else --I was scared to death of this biz until Avita said "Barb, watch the videos".    I did -- Then everything began to clear up!  I will never know this biz in depth, but I know all I need to to hook a merchant up with support@digitalworldpay.com.

8.   #9 is what you get paid to do.  You don't need to be more expert than that.

7.   Why do we like to get a merchant's processing statement and send it to   support@digitalworldpay.com?

       Because we're not psychic!!
                        Neither is DWP.

We need hard numbers in order to inform the merchant how much we can save him.  Without the numbers all we can do is guess.

6.   More on #7:  if a tradesman is contacted about reroofing your house, he can't give you a bid until he comes out, looks at what you have, hears what you want, measures, and computes.  Same here:  consider that merchant statement just another roof!

5.   Tip:  co-op with other Agents to print your brochures in volume at a great price.  Last order we got was from OvernightPrints.com, trifold brochure, glossy full color folded and shipped, 3,000 for $254.     (Need some?  Contact Barb.)

4.   Your interface has PROFESSIONAL FLYERS!  If you are targeting a particular merchant, print off the flyer that applies to him and drop it by.  (Gas stations, restaurants, retail, salons, etc.)

3.   Rob Freytag promised everyone on his  Clover webinar Tuesday night his help via phone interviews with their merchants interested in POS.  He is as good as his word:  he already 'closed' a BIG restaurant Bay Area in Sean's group.       Need his #?

2.   GIFT CARDS!  GIFT CARDS!  GIFT CARDS!  EVERY MERCHANT  should get 50 FREE gift cards just to see the benefit to their bottom line.  Check the box on the EPI app, select the Quick Start design and decide what the merchant wants on card (biz name, address, phone? slogan?).  No matter the biz -- liquor store, mini-mart, mailing shop...

1.   Remember:  with DWP you aren't chasing rainbows.  You are building a pot of gold.

Your dwpinterface is chock-full of tools so I have pulled out some must-have info above.

Have you ever water-skiied?  There are really only 2 things you need to focus on:
  1. your hands on the rope and
  2. your ski (board) under you.
The boat does the rest.

That's how I see this DWP biz:
  1. share the biz when appropriate and
  2. contact a few merchants with what we can do for them.
Using one of the tools above -- as well as webinars, calls, events, whatever is available.

And let the boat (support@digitalworldpay.com) do the rest!

HEADLINE OF THE DAY:

2015 Payments Industry Trends

The credit card sector is a large, growing, and profitable segment of financial services.

Viewed broadly, the payments industry (worldbank.org) (which includes organizations that store, process, and transmit cardholder data) has three quite attractive attributes: It’s large, it’s growing, and — thanks to its relatively stable and predictable transaction volumes combined with low capital intensity — it’s highly profitable.

THE THIRD MOST PERSUASIVE WORD IN ENGLISH ( this is science, SO USE IT!):

3. Because

In a study from the classic book Influence by Robert Cialdini, tests were conducted on requests from a person in a hurry to use an in-office copy machine. The tests examined how different requests might affect people’s willingness to allow this person to “cut” in line.

In the first test, the participant simply stated:

Excuse me, I have 5 pages. May I use the Xerox machine?

In this scenario, around 60% of people allowed him to cut in line and use the machine first.

In the next scenario, the request was slightly tweaked. This time the participant said:

I have 5 pages. May I use the Xerox machine, because I am in a rush?

Did you see the ever-so-subtle difference between the two?

Let’s break this down: Not only was the request only minimally changed, but the “because” (his reason) was barely a reason at all! “Because I’m in a rush” wouldn’t stand up as a good excuse for most of us, right? Isn’t a majority of the working world in a rush?

Despite what we might like to believe, around 94% of people allowed him to cut in line this time!
If you think that’s strange, check out the request used in the 3rd and final test:
Excuse me, I have 5 pages. May I use the Xerox machine because I have to make copies?
That went from having a barely passable reason to absolutely no reason at all for letting the man cut. In spite of this, 93% of people let him cut on this third trial, only a 1% drop from when he had a weak reason (“I’m in a rush”) and a 33% improvement vs. the first test.
According to Cialdini:

A well-known principle of human behavior says that when we ask someone to do us a favor we will be more successful if we provide a reason. People simply like to have reasons for what they do.
Here’s the bottom line: Many companies are proud of the features that their product (or service) can offer, and that’s fine, but you have to remember that when you are focusing on writing persuasive copy, it all comes down to answering your customer’s #1 question:  What’s in it for me?
Although “because” may appear to have some sort of brainwashing effect on people at Xerox machines, it’s only really a matter of reasoning: even giving weak reasons have been shown to be more persuasive than giving no reason at all.
 ************
So how can you use this with a merchant?

"May I get your app in today BECAUSE Oct. 1 will be here in just 8 weeks!"

or any other variation...IDEAS?  Please share how you are using this powerful persuasive word to build your team!
