More Merchants

MORE ON MERCHANTS:

From new Agent Russell Blake, NC:

1. Barbara and Mike. Good news. I got my first merchant today! Donna and I are working together and taking turns at approaches. It was a walk in and we just happened to be there at the right time! Avita was very helpful! The merchant was very helpful and thanked me several times and they did not even know what they were being charged. It turns out we are saving them $400 a month. We are so excited! DWP is working to get them the processor by Friday! --Russell in Billy's group in North Carolina!

2.  We are amazed at the power of this business and potential! Even just a little effort today turned into a $2 million dollar a year merchant ready to sign up! It took 4 hours to get paperwork completed, but it was all done on one walk in! Wow! Talk about amazing!

From Agent Cora Mandapat, a Mission:

Cora called  yesterday afternoon. She had dropped in to a dry cleaners to meet the owner and give him the brochure. He practically collapsed on her when she told him that she would like to inquire about his merchant card processing because she can give him a free terminal and save him money.  He told Cora that a few months back a woman called and  told him she was a single mom trying to raise her children at home and she works with a credit card processing company, then gave him a hard sales pitch.   He was a little bit dubious because he didn't know her but his English is not that great and she was very insistent so he went ahead and signed the contract.  The contract he signed said 1% with 7cents/transaction ad she assured him that was correct.

Actually, on $11,000 card-present transactions they charge him over $1,300. So his rate is effectively $5/transaction. He  consulted a lawyer who told him there was nothing to be done -- the contract is for four years.   He contacted the lady to cancel and she told him he'll have to pay  $9,000 to cancel.   He's heartsick,  upset, and as he told Cora,  this is killing him.
Cora's mission was simply to hand out DWP brochures everyday as she goes about her work day, but the mission is going a little bit deeper now.   How can Cora get help for this Chinese merchant?   Tune in tomorrow!
