On the Web:- In Papua New Guinea, Mobile Banking Brings Savings and Safety to Farmers - IFC - "Farmers can now get paid electronically – through their mobile phones. It’s cheaper and faster. The mobile banking service, pioneered by Bank South Pacific’s subsidiary, BSP Rural, allows buyers to transfer payments to growers’ bank accounts via text messages on their mobile phones."

My dad was an aircraft mechanic in WWII stationed several years in Papua, NG. There were headhunting cannibals there then (barely before I was born) and now they have farmers banking through their cell phones?!! Change is happening, Kids! Almost can't compre'nde! I mean, you've GOTTA admit -- that's a BIG change in one generation.

The number of global mobile banking users is set to double to 1.8 billion over the next four years, according to research by KPMG, using primary survey data supplied by UBS Evidence Lab.
KPMG’s “Global Mobile Banking Report” states that although the mobile channel is already the largest channel by volume of transactions, its adoption by new customers is now entering an exceptionally rapid phase, and is estimated to comprise over 25% of the world’s population in the next four years,
